Exciting news. If you’ve been following Stro: The Michael D’Asaro Story on social media, you would know that we’ve been accepted to screen the film as part of the Burbank International Film Festival. If this announcement seems like Deja Vu, you are correct. I put up a post back in May about our acceptance into BIFF, but that was an accidental acceptance. This time it’s the real deal.
We were accepted back on Aug 5, but I’ve been waiting until I knew more about tickets before I posted. This will be an online festival so you should be able to watch from where ever you are in the country. The festival runs from September 10-13. Stro:The Michael D’Asaro Story will be showing with the Documentaries and Foreign Films on Sunday, September 13
Tickets come in three flavors. You can buy the VIP block for $50 and be able to watch all of the films that are part of BIFF. For $15 you can buy a single day ticket which allows you to see all the films on that particular day or block. Again, if you want to purchase the block that Stro is a part of you would buy the Documentary/Foreign Films block on September 13.
If you just want to see Stro: The Michael D’Asaro Story, you can do that for $15. If you noticed, that is the exact same price as seeing all the Documentaries and all the Foreign Films on Sunday. Make your choices wisely.
These prices are all early bird prices. Everything will be increasing by $5 on September 1st. If you want to save $5, get your orders in now.
There will also be an awards show for the festival. Details of that have yet to be revealed. When I know more about that, I will post that information.
You can find all the ticketing information here: https://burbankfilmfest.festivee.com/passes

At this time, this is the only way to see Stro: The Michael D’Asaro Story. The film was accepted into two other online festivals, but I had to decline because of scheduling problems. I hope you get a chance to see the film. I am looking forward to hearing what people think.
I was surprised to see that probably the most important event in Michael fencing career was not even mentioned? His participation on the US world Masters Championship in London in 1970 where he won the Gold medal with the US sabre team?
Dear Mr. Sudre, I’m not sure what you are basing that on, but in the documentary we talked a lot about Coach D’Asaro and the 1970 World Masters Championships. We also mention you quite a bit during that episode. Or at least Nilo Otero does. I wish we had been able to contact you because you could have added some real insight to the stories. It’s all highlighted with Super8 footage that Charlie Selberg shot.
