Last Chance to See

I'm the multi hyphenate for the films The Last Captain and Stro: The Michael D'Asaro Story

November 9, 2020

My apologies to Douglas Adams for stealing his title, but it seemed appropriate especially if you want to see the documentary about fencer and coach Michael D’Asaro.

November Festival Lineup

If you want to stream Stro: The Michael D’Asaro Story, this will probably be the last week to do that before the end of the year. At the moment, Stro has only been accepted into four more festival and the last closes on Sunday Nov 15, 2020.

I have applied to other festivals, but I have not heard back from any of them. Even if Stro: The Michael D’Asaro Story is accepted into more festivals, the majority of them don’t start until after Jan 1. What I’m trying to say is, if you’d like to stream Stro into the comfort of your own home, this would be the week to do it.

The Ojai Film Festival streams Stro tonight as part of a double-bill and includes a live Q&A session after the screening with Doug and I along with the director of the Documentary Short that streams alongside Stro.

Get all the information and tickets here: https://ojaifilmfestival.com/stro-the-michael-dasaro-story/

If you are unable to watch the live performance tonight, Ojai FF will be streaming it on-demand for the rest of the week.

The Mescalito Biopic Festival is your chance to watch Stro: The Michael D’Asaro Story with Italian subtitles. This unique Italian festival is in it’s first year and is devoted entirely to Biopics. They have a special slot devoted to Stro on Tuesday Nov 10, but after the premiere, you can see it for the rest of the week.

Tickets are available here: https://www.mescalitolive.com/video/stro-the-michael-dasaro-story/

The Director’s Cut International Film Festival  comes to you from lovely Vancouver, Canada. The Festival started Saturday but continues all week until November 15th.

You can buy tickets for this festival here: https://xerb.tv/channel/directorscut/virtual-events/1043

Finally, there is the LA Live Film Festival. They will be showing Stro: The Michael D’Asaro Story on November 14 at 8pm PST.

Tickets can be purchased here: https://www.bingewave.com/screenings/purchase/b74f5103-9b7e-49d2-910a-847558790252

All of these festivals have a competitive aspect to them, so there might be awards announcement this week, too. Ojai is the only festival that has announced an award show. The show will be streamed this Thursday at 7pm.

Stro: The Michael D’Asaro story will also take part in the Los Angeles Motion Picture Festival in December, but they will not be screening any of the movies. LAMP will just judge the films and hand out awards. I have entered Stro into many more festivals but I have yet to hear back from those organizations. But I won’t hear back from them in the frequency I did like I did in September and October.

Thank you to everybody who has seen the film and shared their feedback. I hope if you haven’t seen Stro: The Michael D’Asaro Story yet, you will take this week to do so.

Wow! Things have been busy. It’s kind of hard to keep track. Good thing I have a calendar and a lot of scribbled notes scattered across the desk.
